The “Capture the Spirit of Ramadan” International Photography Competition™ (IRPC) categories for photo submissions are:
Architecture was one of the earliest artistic expressions of Islamic cultural identity inspired by the teachings and values of Islam. This year the IRPC aims to convey the splendor of this monumental art form by dedicating a section of the competition to celebrate the great Islamic architecture around the world including mosques, souks and khans, palaces, forts, monuments, mausoleums and other structures including their grounds and landscaped gardens and details such as arches, domes, mosaics, minarets, mihrab, muqarnas, columns, frieze, stained glass and gypsum carvings. Photo submissions may or may not include human elements.
Worship of Allah is a keystone of life for Muslims. Between the ritualized daily prayers, fasting, praising Allah and admiring His prophets (peace be upon them all), and much more, there are numerous beautiful ways that Muslims express their love for Allah. The IRPC wishes to show this vast diversity of worship by capturing these moments of spirituality and “ibaadah” demonstrating the devotion that Muslims have for their Creator.
One of the beautiful aspects of the IRPC is the bridging of cultures in Islam and learning about the divers traditions of Muslims around the world. Muslims come from all corners of the globe and in each of these corners, their expressions of Islam each have a distinctive cultural flair. All Muslims are united by Islam, yet each culture makes Islam beautiful in its own way. The goal of the IRPC is to showcase these different cultural practices, including different types of social gatherings, different ways that people interact with one another, different costumes or clothing that are worn, different foods that people eat; anything that demonstrates the diversity of Muslims across the globe.
